Palestinian village life is at the center of our inspiration for these scarves. Felahi refers to the Palestinian farmer. Palestinian women traditionally wore the brightly colored Manadeel (Scarves) that we use for the centerpiece in this collection. The Felahi Mandeel is encircled by the Kuffiyeh and finished with a hand-crocheted border and tassels. The Felahi Mandeel is our tribute to traditional garments, but reimagined our way.
Growing up, these colorful Felahi Manadeel were very much a part of my memories. My Grandmother had a black one with red flowers and a red beaded fringe that I, to this day, hold onto. Palestinian women traditionally wore them, and they are still sold in marketplaces across Palestine. We at Juthoor decided to bring together our fondness for this joyful symbol of the Palestinian traditional headscarves and the countryside, with the proud symbol of the Kuffiyeh. We also wanted to complete it with the traditional, delicate accent of a hand-crocheted border and tassels. The Felahi Mandeel is larger than a traditional scarf but smaller than a full-sized Kuffiyeh, so have fun styling yours. Remember at Juthoor, imagination is the limit, so enjoy all the versatile ways you can make this Felai Mandeel your own!
